The location gives you an easy base for the city, with a bus stop just a few yards away and a tram stop about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. From here, public transport links connect to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn, making it straightforward to move across the capital after a quiet morning in the leafy neighborhood. Positive: Staff were exceptional and went out of their way to provide guest service - booking taxis, making restaurant recommendations, tour suggestions. During my stay, it was brutally hot, and they even bought fans for rooms. Breakfasts offered plentiful selection - open early. Christian is the best employee ever!
Negative: The location is far from the airport (the nearer airport closed down a few years ago). Hotel is primarily used by business guests, rather than tourists, but I would stay at Solitaire again anyway. Quiet area. Historic.
Summary: A great place to stay. Highly recommend

Positive:
Excellent breakfast choice, quirky wooden furniture, very large room, bonus of a balcony, easy night-time check-in on request. Very clean bathroom with good shower pressure. Fridge and water provided. Staff very attentive.
Negative:
Could be good to have insect mesh on the windows so that they can be left open without allowing insects in.
Summary: Very comfortable with great staff

Positive:
Nice aspect from the rear of the hotel.
Negative:
It's a hotel and lodging house, and as such was very quiet but also a bit strange. The doors were locked at 9pm , but I wasn't told how to access the place if I'd lost or misplaced my card. The breakfast was adequate, but it looked like only a small percentage of the rooms operated as a hotel and as such they were catering for a small number of people. If you are arriving by car it's fine . If by train it's a 20 walk along the side of the park that takes up most of the area , some of which are unpaved. During the day it's fine , at night, get a cab.

Positive:
The hotel was very quiet and peaceful. There is a great vending machine with wine and snacks. They offer you a treat if you do not wish to have the room cleaned - that is a cute touch. The buffet breakfast is very good.
Negative:
I didn't see the staff very much, if you needed help there is no-one there. They are around at breakfast time and are very rude when 10pm arrives! Breakfast finishes at that time but it is self service and it would be nice if they were a little more relaxed about it. one morning they spoke in German to the room, telling us to leave by 10 but it was obvious some of the guests did not understand.
Summary: Overall a great experience.
